Synopsis:
Late at night, KONG Xianyun and her younger brother Yuanyuan escaped from their family house. They trek into an abandoned school, where Yuanyuan’s memories were awakened – the sound of books, piano, and laughter, Fire! Fire! Fire! Fire engulfs everything.
Director's Statement:
Double Helix is adapted from the novel 'The Song of Life' by renowned sci-fi novelist WANG Jinkang. There are cinematic tales about AI rebelling against humans, and this particular short film places such conflict within a traditional Chinese family. Can oppressive education trigger an intelligent awakening? Will such awakening incur destruction or lead to rebirth? When the vulnerable bond between the human and AI is challenged, the symbiotic resonance between robots may last for good.
